The choreographer Helen Simoneau hails from Quebec, but judging by the animated crowd at the Joyce SoHo on Friday night, she’s no stranger in the United States. In 2010 she won first prize at “The A.W.A.R.D. Show!” in New York — a dance competition hosted by the Joyce Theater Foundation — and her company, Helen Simoneau Danse, is based both in New York and Winston-Salem, N.C.
