TEACHING

Hélène Simoneau is a working choreographer, whose guest teaching focuses on setting original or existing dance works on students, leading composition classes, and participating in panel discussions or conversations about choreographic practice. 

Hélène has teaching experience with many institutions, including:

  • The Ailey School

  • New World School of the Arts

  • American Dance Festival

  • The Juilliard School

  • New York University/Tisch

  • University of the Arts (PA)

  • UNC School of the Arts

She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance from Hollins University/American Dance Festival and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from UNCSA. She is trained as a moderator in Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process and has participated in educator workshops through Lincoln Center.

Seeking more than technical skill, today's choreographers are looking for dancers available and interested in collaboration.

As a guest educator, Hélène aims to offer a fresh perspective on what dance-makers are asking of dancers and demonstrates how to engage in deeper dialogue about the creative process.
